That displacement idea is fascinating. I've caught myself doing exactly that lately.

When the world feels overwhelming, my brain suddenly becomes very invested in solving small, local problems.

It almost feels like the mind is trying to regain a sense of agency somewhere when the bigger things are outside our control.

100% I think it’s exactly that. For my clients, it’s contributing to this sensation of “This too? Why is EVERYTHING feeling stressful?” when I’d posit that none of it is a coincidence.

That makes sense. If the tension is already there, every small trigger can surface it.

Wow, thank you for this! So much to think about. I agree that there is so much happening in the body (and biologically in general) that we gain so much from tapping into in a way that many are reluctant to do.
